Chris, Patricia, Sherry & Dennis (December 2006)

Dennis Sehorn was a loving husband and father of two children.  He was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) in October of 2004 at age 61.  Tragically, he developed breathing issues in a very short period of time and had to be placed on a portable ventilator in November of 2005.  He was able to maintain a reasonable quality of life for 3 years.  Sadly, he passed away on November 14, 2008 at age 65, just days before his 35th wedding anniversary.  We truly understand the tremendous financial burden that this horrible disease places on the family.  We are very blessed to be in a position where we can raise funds to help other families ease their physical and financial burdens.  With an estimated 30,000 Americans currently suffering from this disease and an estimated 5,000 others diagnosed each year, we must take it upon ourselves to help our local families.  Being able to give to other PALS (people with ALS) is an important part of our healing process and a wonderful way to honor Dennis’ memory.

The Dennis Sehorn Foundation is a 100% volunteer operated, 501(c)(3) organization working to provide physical and financial support to PALS and their families.  Our goals are to help those on portable ventilators and assist families requiring financial assistance for home modifications and medical equipment so that they can sustain their dignity and sense of independence.

The BOARD OF DIRECTORS ARE: Dennis’ wife, Patricia Sehorn, daughter, Sherry Dolejsi and son, Chris Sehorn.

The majority of our funds will be raised at our biennial fundraisers – they will be held every 2 years.  The events will feature food, drinks, dancing, wine pulls, car shows and silent & live auctions.  We will locate PALS that are in need of assistance in two ways: we will use our contacts at the MDA funded ALS Clinic in Houston to recommend candidates AND we will also accept applications for assistance from our website.

Thank you for taking the time to learn about our Circle of Friends.  With your help we can make a difference in the lives of many PALS.
